Get Gorgeous on a Budget!
Yes, yes. The economy is in the gutter but does that mean we all have to starve ourselves of the fun things in life? Find out how to look great and feel even better by visiting my new blog, getgorgeousonabudget.today.com!
I’m super excited about this blog and love to hear from readers. Let me know what you want to see most: clothes, shoes, beauty or ALL of it!

Sophisticated, cheap, and oh-so-Michelle-Obama worthy!

To kick things off, I’ll share some of my favorite bargain places to shop!
- Thrift stores - Perhaps not the easiest place for everyone to shop, I’ve scored gorgeous coats, scarves and dresses from thrift stores everywhere. If you’re hitting a random city for day shopping or in a small town, never neglect to check out the charity shops and thrift stores that they usually have. Remember to think outside of the box, because many vintage dresses look totally hideous on a hanger and completely stellar once they’ve been altered to your figure and merchandised with a pair of luxe heels.
- Ebay - Again, you have to implement the same shopping philosophy as thrift stores. Don’t expect the world, and when shopping online, keep a tape measure handy. Know your size in different brands (go into a store when you’re bored and do a try-on session so you know what you’re dealing with) and remember that you can save your searches and also search by Best Offer, which alows you to negotiate with a seller.
- Gap - The sales in the States outdo the sales in Canada a million to one, but once in awhile you can score a deal in The Great White North. If you aren’t too much of an impulse shopper, make Gap a regular stop when you’re at the mall. Jumping in may score you the perfect black pants under $20. My favorite thing to buy there are knit sweaters, which go for super cheap in late January/early February. Ditto for Gap Body sales.

This dress is from Gap’s European collection and is marked down to $48.99 from $98 and can work on its own as a party dress or as shown for casual outings like the movies or grabbing coffee.
Check out more sale dresses from Gap most which have been marked down at least 50%. I love gap.com because there’s never a gamble. If it doesn’t work, you hit the nearest store with your receipt in hand and you’ve got your money back before you know it.
